  Attorney Todd Skowronski

back to attorneys

Todd Skowronski is an Associate in the Firm. He graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where he was a Dean King Scholar. He was an Associate Editor of the Michigan State Law Review, and received the Jurisprudence Award for Research, Writing, and Advocacy. Before law school, he received his Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy from Michigan State University.

With his focus on community association and condominium law, Todd can advise clients on a wide range of legal matters, from all types of litigation, to association governance and management, contract negotiation, bylaw enforcement, assessment collection, document interpretation and amendment, civil rights / fair housing complaints, and more. He has represented co-owners and homeowners, HOAs and condominium associations, condominium developers, and residential builders.

Todd started his career as a civil and white collar criminal litigator at a large Detroit-based law firm, eventually choosing to specialize in community association and condominium law before joining the Firm. A seasoned litigator, he (to the surprise of some clients) believes that litigation is best viewed as a last resort. Many clients wait until they need to either file a lawsuit or have been served with a complaint before contacting a lawyer, but there are often proactive steps they can take to reduce exposure to lawsuits before they happen. He never suggests litigation simply because that is his forte. Rather, he only recommends it when it is unavoidable, or when it is the most promising option to achieve his client’s goals.

All that said, sometimes litigation is the best or only option, and in that case you need an experienced trial and appellate litigator. Todd has represented clients in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate level, as well as in arbitration and in front of administrative agencies. He has litigated cases involving community and condominium association law, real estate law, construction disputes, commercial disputes, insurance benefit disputes, automotive, landlord tenant, products liability, securities litigation, SEC civil enforcement litigation, grand jury investigations, as well as corporate crime and white collar crime.

Todd is a lifelong resident of Michigan, and he resides in West Bloomfield with his wife, Carolyn.

Todd was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyer’s Annual Publication in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
